Nxai Pan National Park
Overview
Nxai Pan National Park is a park in the Kalahari ecosystem that consists of the Nxai Pan, a large salt pan that was declared a national park in 1992, after having been a game reserve since 1970.
One factor that makes the park unique is the amount of wildlife that roams the pan during the rainy seasons as vegetation begins to sprout, drawn to a notable waterhole in the center of the park they are known to congregate here and are easily viewed by visitors. As the rains draw out animals, herds of giraffes, Springbok, zebras, and more can be seen roaming the area, along with their predators, cheetah, jackal, and lion. An area known as Baines Baobabs exists within the park, as it was included as a part of the Nxai Pan National park after the transition of the park from reserve to the national park in 1992 and consists of seven ancient and massive baobab trees clustered together in a picturesque setting.
Nxai Pan National Park is a national park in northeastern Botswana, consisting of Nxai Pan, which is one of the Makgadikgadi Pan salt flats.
